Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment, focusing on the medical and surgical needs of patients. This role requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Duties
- Assess and monitor patients’ health status, including vital signs and symptoms.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Perform nursing procedures such as catheterization and tube feeding.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health conditions and treatment options.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including coding using ICD-9 standards.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, utilizing skills in emergency medicine as needed.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the medical/surgical unit.

EMR - EPIC
This is NOT a PACU position! This is a Med-Surg need!
28-bed unit caring for post-operative surgical patients. Nurses are trained to read telemetry strips and take care of cardiac drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Lasix, Insulin, etc. We have state-of-the-art bedside monitors in every patient room to facilitate the care of the patients. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 on day shift and 1:4/5 on night shift.
Requirements
- 2 years of Med Surg experience including Post Op experience
- Tele Strip Reading experience encouraged
- Hospital experience strongly desired
- travel experience desired
- ability to float internally to other like units
Certification Requirements
- BLS (AHA)
State License Requirements
- Iowa
