SUMMARY: The General Dentist is responsible for providing dental services.
PRIMARY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (other duties may be assigned)
- Provide dental services to individual patients of all age groups.
- Properly document diagnoses and treatment of dental patient visits.
- Forward encounter forms to the Health Center's billing department for timely processing.
- Participate in the development of, and adherence to, the dental health care plan, clinical protocols, quality assessment and quality improvement procedures and other procedures of practice.
- Adhere to the provision of the personnel policies of the Health Center.
- Assess, diagnose, plan treatment and implement individual dental care plans.
- Refer to other health care providers when necessary, including specialist for care and/or evaluation of conditions judged to require this additional expertise.
- Maximize reimbursement opportunities from third-party payers, including commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures as well as applicable law.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills, and/or ability required:

- Maintain membership in the dental society or association.
- Maintain the appropriate licenses to practice dentistry in the State of North Carolina.
- Maintain the appropriate Controlled Substance Registration Certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Graduate of an accredited school of dentistry
- Minimum of two years of practice as a general dentist preferred.
- Participate annually in continuing professional dental education.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak English fluently. The ability to speak other languages is a plus.
REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to identify a problem, make a decision on one of the possible solutions, implement the decision, and evaluate the results.
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL/MOTOR SKILLS: Medical terminology, accurate keyboarding skills, ability to process work error free. Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, photocopiers, and facsimile m machines.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Teamwork and communication skills essential. Treat all patients, co-workers, and managers with courtesy and respect.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: Maintain the appropriate licenses to practice dentistry in the State of North Carolina; maintain the appropriate Controlled Substance Registration Certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration ; maintain membership in the dental society or association.

MedNorth Health Center provides comprehensive health care services, inside a multi-cultural medical/dental clinic, to all individuals; insured, uninsured, and underinsured. The building is heated in winter and air conditioned in the summer with noise levels of moderate to loud. We serve patients who speak multiple languages and who may need the assistance of an interpreter. In this position one may be subject to exposure to copier toner, correction fluid, bright fluorescent lighting, and continuous personal computer exposure.
This job is a Blood borne Pathogens risk category I position.
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:
The General Dentist is expected to attend work on a daily basis, report in a timely manner (or provide proper notice) and be alert throughout the duty day.
The General Dentist is expected to be a team player.
The General Dentist is expected to report absences in accordance with personnel policies, procedures and office protocols.
The General Dentist’s work is expected to be accurate, neat, and thorough, and completed on time (i.e Notes completed 24-48 hours/by COB last day before scheduled leave).
The General Dentist is expected to have a positive attitude, be cooperative, and considerate of others.
The General Dentist is expected to make professional judgement comparable to the NC State Board of Dental Examiners Acts/Laws and other pertinent regulatory agencies.
The General Dentist is expected to be dependable and is expected to accept responsibility for assignments and additional duties given.
The General Dentist is expected to dress and act in a professional manner and adhere to all safety standards.
The General Dentist is expected to participate in staff meetings, lead trainings/presentations, be courteous and polite with patients and other staff.

Salary : $148,000 - $198,000
