POSITION SUMMARY:
The Electronic Health Records Assistant will be responsible for scanning physical documents, indexing data, storing files, retrieving information upon request, and ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of electronic records, all while adhering to established data management. This position will participate in a variety of projects including physical records management, physical-to-digital conversion, and digital records processing, storage, and retrieval. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and accessibility of our patient information, and the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timely completion of all data/scan entry tasks.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Accurately and efficiently enter data from various sources, including scanned document, into our EHR database, Athena.
- Organize and scan documents into patient charts within EHR database.
- Verify accuracy of data entered by comparing it to source documents and correcting any discrepancies.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records and files, both physical and digital.
- Identify and resolve and issues or errors related to the data entered or scanning processes.
- Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to HIPPA requirements
- Provide general administrative support as needed, including filing, photocopying, and other tasks.
- Accurately label and file incoming documents
- Manage time effectively, while working quickly and accurately to keep workflows and clinic operations on track
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficiency in data entry and scanning software
- Strong computer skills, including typing, proficiency with document management systems, scanning software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to accurately input data and maintain meticulous file organization.
- High level of accuracy when entering and verifying data.
- Experience with EHR systems, Athena preferred.
- Must be able to work independently without supervision to complete assigned tasks
- High School Diploma or Equivalent is preferred
- Must have reliable transportation – this position travels to multiple clinic worksites
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.
- Performs highly complex and varied tasks requiring independent knowledge and its application to a variety of situations, as well as exercising independent judgement.
- Requires the use of office equipment such as copiers, scanners, computers, telephones, and fax machines.
- May view computer screens for long periods of time.
- Must be able to prioritize activities when faced with competing demands.
