Job Description
- Operate computed tomography (CT) equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bones, organs, and tissue
- Position patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary
- Set the controls of the related equipment, monitor equipment and patient, and make adjustments as needed
- Assist radiologists with imaging procedures, starting IVs, and injecting contrast, if applicable
- Dispense oral contrast to patients for CT scans
- Assist radiologists with interventional CT procedures
- Evaluate CT scans for technical quality and collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label
- Schedule patients for procedures and assist with some clerical functions
- Charge procedures and supplies used to the patient record
- Load and operate power injections for contrast media administration
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Eighteen months prior experience in a healthcare setting as a CT Tech
- Must be ARRT (CT) or ASRT certified
- Most states require licensure
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
