Job Description
MedQuest College is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic faculty member to teach in our Nursing Program. This is a full-time instructor professional position reporting directly to the Nursing Administrator. Applicants will also be expected to provide academic advising to students, assist the program director and participate in department training, meetings, and graduation.
General Scope of Responsibilities
· Responsible to support/facilitate student learning in both the classroom and clinical setting.
- Assists with development of annual goals for program improvement; revisions and updates to program curriculum using current evidence-based material; reviews all student policies and revises policies related to admission, progression, graduation, standardized testing and remediation.
- Practice excellence in teaching and instruction.
- Demonstrates evidence of professional growth and academic currency.
- Carries out the responsibilities specific to his/her area, department and/or program.
- Contributes to the college community through participation in service activities.
- Contributes to the local community by participation in service activities.
Clinical Administrative Duties
- Knowledge of nursing skills; lab equipment, teaching and instruction methods and practices; record keeping procedures.
- In conjunction with lead faculty, has the ability to supervise and evaluate students and faculty in the clinical setting; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
- With input from the Administrator and faculty, coordinates and facilitates all facets of the clinical setting, including but not limited to:
- Training/orientation for faculty, staff, and students pertaining to clinical.
- Record keeping.
- Scheduling.
- Maintaining health and safety precautions for faculty, staff, and students.
- Assisting in gathering student medical records and maintaining a system to ensure CPR, TB, and other health requirements are up-to-date.
- Assessing educational needs of students.
- Establishing and monitoring clinical sites.
- Obtaining and maintaining cooperating agency contracts.
- Conducting site visits and assisting in clinical faculty evaluations.
The clinical coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all KBN regulations related to the clinical experience are adhered to by faculty, teaching assistants and preceptors.
Requirements:
Baccalaureate in nursing degree REQUIRED, Master’s in nursing preferred.
Current Unencumbered license to work in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
At least three years of experience in the field of Nursing within the last five years.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Highly organized, motivated, and results driven
Prior teaching experience preferred
Teaching: Documentation to show preparation and experience for teaching
License: Current Kentucky Licensure
CPR Certification: BLS American Heart ONLY
