What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Data Engineer position at MedQuest?
The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining data processing software like databases. The incumbent in this role will be coordinating with company stakeholders and other professionals to create unique data infrastructure, running tests on their designs to isolate errors and updating systems to accommodate changes in company needs. The incumbent will work on a small fast paced team alongside our stakeholders across the company to deliver data insights that create material impacts to our business.
The Sr. Data Engineer can work remotely from the following locations only: Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Illinois, Tennessee or Texas.
Responsibilities
• Develops data-driven solutions to critical business problems by leveraging our data warehouse, analytics tools, and scripting languages.
• Partners with stakeholders throughout the company to drive improved business results in their areas by providing creative technical solutions to their most pressing business challenges.
• Translates quantitative analyses and findings into clear visuals, written documentation, and other data assets for non-technical end users.
• Provides suggestions for improving the reliability, ease of use, and performance of the Data Team’s technical infrastructure.
• Forms strong relationships with your team and refine our best practices e.g. naming convention, data modeling, and data quality testing.
• Enables users across the organization to self-serve requests using our explorable data sets.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Physics, Math, Economics, etc.) or related experience.
Certification
AWS, Snow Pro, Azure certification preferred.
Experience
o Three plus (3 ) years’ of professional experience as an Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, or similar.
o Three plus (3 ) years’ experience with data modeling and warehousing concepts.
o Three plus (3 ) years’ experience with tools like Snowflake (SQL), Python, and Power BI (Microsoft Fabric)
Skills
o In depth knowledge of a modern data pipeline tool, like DBT.
o Exposure to a scripting language like Python.
o Some knowledge of either AWS, or Azure, data infrastructure.
o A curious and growth-oriented mindset towards learning and helping others.
o Ability to understand, tackle, and communicate problems from both technical and business perspectives.
