MEDRVA Imaging is currently hiring a PRN Technologist to support CT, XR and DEXA scans. Responsibilities will include preparing patients for routine and emergent CT and radiographic examinations in accordance with physicians’ orders and established protocols. The CT Technologist produces high quality CT and radiographic images and presents them with appropriate patient information to the Radiologist for timely interpretation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares patients for XR, CT and DEXA examinations by confirming physicians’ orders, verifying patients’ identities, and obtaining adequate medical histories to ensure appropriateness of examinations.
- Prepares equipment and performs quality control tests.
- Demonstrates a high degree of knowledge and understanding of CT and radiographic services while providing quality patient care.
- Practices safety guidelines for themselves, support personnel and patients by supporting the establishment, maintenance, and education of an effective safety management program.
- Adheres to radiation safety practices for all patients, personnel, and self to include the principles of time, distance, and shielding.
- Maintains authority to administer contrast agents and follows established guidelines for the selection and administration of appropriate contrast types, amount, and concentration.
- Adequately screens all patients for contraindications.
- Able to demonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast administration.
- Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure their continued availability and non-interruption of services.
- Operates x-ray equipment for surgical cases.
Requirements
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Advanced level certification by the ARRT in CT required.
- VA State Radiologic Technologist License required.
- Current BLS certification required.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of accredited program in Radiologic Technology required.
- Minimum of 3 years CT technologist experience preferred.
- Current Diagnostic and DEXA knowledge a plus.
- Siemens CT experience preferred.
