Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse - Oncology to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in oncology nursing and be committed to providing high-quality patient care. This role involves working closely with patients undergoing cancer treatment, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being throughout their journey.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate the physical and emotional needs of oncology patients.
- Administer IV infusions and medications as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement effective discharge planning for patients transitioning from hospital to home care.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment options, side effects, and coping strategies.
- Perform phlebotomy as required for lab tests and monitoring patient status.
- Maintain sterile processing standards during procedures to prevent infections.
- Utilize knowledge of physiology to monitor vital signs and recognize changes in patient conditions promptly.
- Document all patient interactions, treatments, and progress in medical records accurately.
- Participate in memory care initiatives for patients experiencing cognitive challenges related to their treatment.
- Assist in ventilating patients when necessary, ensuring they receive appropriate respiratory support.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Previous experience in oncology nursing preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Strong skills in patient assessment and discharge planning are essential.
- Knowledge of sterile processing techniques is a plus.
- Proficiency in IV infusion techniques and phlebotomy is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with medical office operations and MDS documentation is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to educate patients effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while demonstrating empathy and compassion towards patients and their families.
