Job Summary
The Labor and Delivery Nurse plays a critical role in providing care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. This position requires a compassionate and skilled nursing professional who can assess patient needs, provide education, and support families during one of the most significant moments in their lives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and records, as well as experience in patient assessment and care for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess the health status of mothers and newborns throughout the labor process.
- Administer medications and interventions as prescribed by physicians.
- Assist in the delivery process, including catheterization when necessary.
- Maintain accurate medical records, documenting all patient interactions and care provided.
- Educate patients and families about the labor process, postpartum care, and newborn care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for patients with diverse needs, including those with disabilities.
- Utilize knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding for effective patient management.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families throughout the labor and delivery experience.
Skills
- Proficient in medical terminology and maintaining medical records.
- Strong patient assessment skills to identify potential complications during labor.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $80.88 - $84.90 per hour
