Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this critical role, you will provide comprehensive care to expectant mothers during labor and delivery, ensuring both maternal and neonatal health. You will work closely with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the health and progress of laboring mothers and their babies by assessing vital signs and fetal heart rates.
- Administer medications, including injections, as prescribed by physicians.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
- Assist in the delivery process by preparing necessary equipment and ensuring a sterile environment.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop individualized care plans for each patient.
- Conduct assessments of newborns immediately after delivery, including vital signs and initial screenings.
- Implement infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records.
Skills
- Proficient in monitoring vital signs and understanding their implications for maternal-fetal health.
- Experience administering injections safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of infection control practices within a clinical setting.
- Familiarity with coding procedures related to labor and delivery care.
