Position Title: Nurse Practitioner – Wound Care (Leadership Role)
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to take on a leadership role in wound care management. This position is designed for a seasoned wound care professional who has a deep understanding of advanced wound treatment techniques and the ability to lead, mentor, and educate clinical teams. As a leader in our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing wound care practices, ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients, and enhancing the knowledge base of our clinical team in wound management. Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Training: Lead and manage wound care initiatives across the facility, ensuring consistent application of evidence-based wound care protocols. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of educational programs for clinical staff, empowering them to provide the highest standard of care.
- Advanced Wound Assessment & Treatment: Conduct comprehensive wound assessments, including accurate staging and diagnosis of a variety of complex wounds such as pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers, vascular wounds, and venous stasis ulcers. Design and implement effective treatment plans for wound healing.
- Clinical Leadership: Serve as a clinical leader by mentoring and educating clinical teams, training providers in advanced wound care techniques such as negative pressure therapy, wound debridement, and other therapeutic procedures. You will play a key role in improving clinical performance and patient outcomes.
- Collaboration & Guidance: Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, providing leadership in wound care management and ensuring that wound care protocols are followed across all departments. Act as the go-to expert in wound care for the entire clinical staff.
- Documentation & Compliance: Conduct regular audits of clinical documentation, ensuring that wound care treatments and outcomes are accurately recorded in line with quality assurance standards and CMS guidelines. Address any issues of non-compliance and implement corrective actions.
- Quality Improvement & Outcomes: Identify opportunities for improvement in wound care practices, recommending and implementing strategies to enhance care delivery and patient outcomes. Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations related to wound care and patient documentation.
- Patient Care Leadership: Oversee direct patient care in managing complex wound care cases, including designing individualized treatment plans and leading the execution of advanced wound care therapies.
- Performance Reviews & Evaluations: Lead the performance review process for wound care clinical teams, providing constructive feedback, coaching, and mentoring to foster continuous improvement.
- Travel & Site Visits: Travel as necessary to multiple locations to oversee wound care programs at affiliated long-term care (LTC) facilities, ensuring consistent application of best practices across all sites.
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive Wound Care Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on experience in wound care, including in-depth knowledge of advanced wound care treatments, staging, and protocols. Experience leading wound care teams is highly preferred.
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record in a leadership role within a clinical environment, with the ability to guide, mentor, and educate staff. Experience in managing teams and influencing change within healthcare settings.
- Nurse Practitioner (NP) Licensure: Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner licensure. Wound care certification is strongly preferred.
- Advanced Knowledge of Wound Care Guidelines: In-depth knowledge of CMS Wound Care Guidelines, as well as up-to-date knowledge of the latest advancements in wound care treatment and therapies.
- Clinical Education & Mentorship: Strong skills in training and developing clinical staff, providing both group and one-on-one education on wound care protocols and procedures.
- Communication & Presentation Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex clinical information clearly and effectively to both small and large groups.
- EHR & Documentation Auditing: Proficient in EHR systems and documentation auditing, with a focus on quality assurance and compliance.
Preferred Skills:
- Project Management Experience: Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to lead large-scale initiatives.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other office tools for reporting and analysis.
- Ability to Travel: Willingness to travel to multiple LTC facilities as required to oversee and manage wound care programs.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and travel to different facilities.
