General Summary of Position
Collects and processes laboratory specimens for processing. Performs simple routine duties specific to assigned section.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Standard Job Duty : Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
- Retrieves specimens as directed and takes them to the laboratory for analysis, using appropriate or specified equipment for collecting and handling specimens. Logs specimens into the laboratory. Bags and files specimens; discards surgical specimens as necessary.
- Reviews specimen identity, investigates discrepancies, generates appropriate reports, and submits corrections.
- Maintains a clean, orderly work environment regarding safety and biohazardous conditions. Reports unsafe or hazardous conditions.
- Maintains required records, reports, statistics, and files as directed.
