MedStar Health Franklin Square Hospital is seeking a passionate and certified Lactation Consultant to join our dynamic Postpartum Unit. As a Lactation Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in promoting the health and well-being of both mothers and newborns. Offering a nurturing environment with 23 beds, including 19 couplet rooms and 4 designated for multiples. This is a unique opportunity to provide vital lactation support to new mothers and their infants in a setting that values the importance of breastfeeding. Part time, evening shift 1:30p-8p.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the healthcare team, including nurses, physicians, and midwives, to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care
• Provide expert lactation consultation to new mothers, assisting with breastfeeding initiation, techniques, and problem-solving.
• Educate mothers on the benefits of breastfeeding, proper positioning, latch techniques, and breast milk storage.
Qualifications
- International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification required.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state required or Multistate Compact state required.
- CPR certification required by completion of introductory period. required
- Previous experience as a Lactation Consultant in a healthcare setting is preferred. 1-2 years related RN experience required.
