As a new graduate nurse with MedStar Health, you will participate in the
year-long New to Practice Nurse Residency Program, offered at all 10 of
our hospitals. Our Nurse Residency Program will provide you with
series of structured learning and practice experiences designed to assist you
in your transition from a new to practice to a professional nurse and clinical
leader at the bedside. Supporting your growth and celebrating your
success – we’ll be with you every step of the way.

During your career

*In the interest of transparency, we do not have Pediatrics in the Baltimore
Region. Not all specialty units will have new graduate positions available.
Do I need to be licensed
to apply? No. We offer new graduates the option to begin in
the Graduate Nurse (GN) position or the Clinical Nurse I position.
A Clinical Nurse
I is a recent nursing school graduate who has successfully passed the
NCLEX exam. As a licensed professional care provider, you
will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing care of
patients from admission through discharge.

Qualifications
Education/Training: Associate
degree in nursing is required. (Associate degree graduates will be
required to enroll in an accredited Bachelor's of Nursing program within six
months of beginning employment and will have three years to complete the
program.) Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited
nursing program is preferred. Official transcripts will be
required at time of hire.
Experience: No previous experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Effective verbal and written
communication skills. Ability to set priorities and work under
stress. Basic computer skills required.
License/Cert/Reg: CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification
required.
Graduate Nurse - No license required
Clinical Nurse I - Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of
Maryland, or Multistate Compact state or license eligible.
