Position Highlights:
As a Student Nurse Extern in our Summer 2025 cohort, you will work closely under the supervision of Clinical Nurses to provide compassionate patient care and perform essential clinical tasks. This role offers the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills you’ve learned in nursing school while contributing to a culture of quality and excellence in patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist with monitoring patient conditions and report changes to the appropriate staff.
· Provide support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as feeding, dressing, and mobility assistance.
· Participate in intentional rounding to ensure patient comfort and safety.
· Document bedside care and treatments, including recording vital signs, intake/output, and patient observations.
· Support nursing staff in clinical procedures, admissions, discharges, and post-mortem care.
· Maintain clean and organized clinical environments, equipment, and supply rooms.
Qualifications:
· Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing program and in good standing.
· Must have completed your junior year of nursing school, including at least one semester of medical-surgical training.
· BLS - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) Required
· No Board of Nursing certification required for practice sites in the District of Columbia
