A Day in the Life
As an Additive Manufacturing Prototype Technician III, you will play a vital role within the R&D organization, where your primary responsibility will be to manufacture metal prototypes that support the development of innovative products designed to treat spinal pathologies. In this hands-on role, you’ll produce prototypes and test fixtures, offer manufacturing insight to the engineering team, and contribute throughout the entire product design process—from concept to commercialization. You will work closely with engineering and management teams, providing design-for-manufacturability guidance, while also supporting daily operations through tasks such as ordering supplies, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring the smooth function of prototype equipment.
Responsibilities includes but not limited to:
Production of prototype components, assemblies, and test fixtures to support operations.
Provide estimates for projects and strive to meet project timeline deliverables.
Responsible for operational support of our R&D additive manufacturing center.
Responsible for set up, operation, and programming of all equipment as needed to complete each job.
Support the R&D additive manufacturing center’s engineering staff in all aspect of the operation required to deliver quality prototypes.
Assist management with scheduling.
Responsible for completing periodic maintenance on all R&D additive manufacturing center’s equipment and identify equipment repair when needed.
Responsible for maintaining an adequate level of department consumables to prevent project disruptions.
Work with and provide technical leadership to development engineers, lab technicians, and test engineers.
Ensure adherence to product specifications, industry standards, and quality and regulatory procedures and requirements.
Create innovative technical solutions which lead to the development of prototypes that support ongoing business objectives.

Minimum Requirement:

High School degree or GED is required
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience is required
Nice to have:
Experience in Manufacturing or R&D environment is highly desired.
Basic skills in machining methods preferred; manual machine operation (mill, lathe), drilling, grinding, etc.
Experience managing equipment preventative maintenance programs
Ability to solve problems and communicate effectively with engineering personnel.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently to accomplish each of them in a timely manner.
