Join Our Team as a Seasonal Field Crew Leader! (March–November 2025) Medway Community Farm (MCF) is seeking an energetic, motivated Seasonal Field Crew Leader to join us for the 2025 growing season! At MCF, we’re passionate about growing fresh, local produce using sustainable, organic methods. Our produce supports CSA memberships, farm stand sales, food donations, and community events. With three plots of land—including our main farm on Winthrop Street and two satellite fields—this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) seasonal position, running from March through November 2025. What You’ll Do As the Field Crew Leader, you’ll work closely with the Assistant Farm Manager to oversee our daily operations and lead a hardworking crew. Your responsibilities include:
- ● Seeding and Propagation: Starting seedlings for retail sales and farm needs, following crop plans.
- ● Field Work: Assisting with field preparation, planting, maintenance, and harvesting.
- ● Team Leadership: Guiding and supporting crew members, setting the daily pace, and providing feedback.
- ● Equipment Use: Operating tools and small machines such as mowers, weed whackers, blade weeders, and irrigation pumps. Occasional tractor use (e.g., moving compost).
- ● Sanitation & Maintenance: Cleaning trays, crates, and bins, maintaining coolers, and tracking inventory.
- ● Food Safety: Supervising crew compliance with food safety practices during fieldwork and post-harvest tasks.
- ● Community Engagement: Supporting farmstand operations, farmers’ markets, and deliveries while working with volunteers, staff, and the public to promote MCF’s mission. What We’re Looking For
- ● Experience: 3 years in agriculture or leadership roles (grower, crew leader, etc.) preferred. Willing to train motivated applicants with less experience.
- ● Tractor Skills: Prior experience preferred, but training is available.
- ● Leadership Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and documentation abilities.
- ● Physical Ability: Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions.
- ● Commitment: Reliable, flexible, and ready to adapt to occasional night or weekend work.
- ● Knowledge: Familiarity with local food systems, FSMA, and GAP standards is a plus (training provided).
- ● License: A valid MA driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
