Job Description:
At Meek's, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional service and quality building materials to construction professionals and homeowners since 1919. Our team supports customers through locations in Arkansas, California, Missouri, and Nevada.
Counter Sales Representative Responsibilities:
- Greet and interact with customers in a positive manner, answering questions about merchandise, location, pricing, and promotions.
- Process customer sales using a cash register, receiving payment by various methods according to company procedures.
- Provide initial responses to customer inquiries, including product selection, order placement, prices, quotations, complaints, and delivery scheduling.
- Facilitate product selection for showroom customers, maintaining accurate records of selections.
- Purchase special products, researching pricing specifications, uses, and availability.
- Attend training sessions and meetings to increase knowledge of the product offering.
- Create accurate invoices, work orders, and sales tickets, coding and inputting customer orders and pricing information into the computer system.
- Issue refunds or credits with manager approval when necessary.
- Bag, box, or wrap merchandise, preparing packages as needed.
- Maintain all cash levels at the registers, computing and recording transaction totals.
- Responsible for the appearance of the showroom, maintaining the physical integrity and pride of the space.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1-3 years of building material knowledge and sales experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Commitment to excellent customer service, strong oral and written communication skills.
- Maintenance of professional demeanor, detail orientation, and high observance.
- Able to multi-task, possess good mathematic skills, and use a calculator and computers.
- Knowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment, and/or construction industry.
- Good interpersonal and customer relations skills, vendor knowledge, ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, familiar with computer, printer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, engineer's scale/ruler, mechanical tools, inventory, and inventory control.
- Able to drive and walk throughout yards, plants, and offices, computer literate with Microsoft Office products and Trend system.
- Ability to work Saturday and evening schedules as required.
