Job Overview
The Inside Sales Representative plays a vital role in assisting with new and existing customer sales, while providing product support to outside sales representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding product selection, placement of orders, prices, quotations, complaints, and scheduling of deliveries and installations.
- Initiate telephone calls to customers to generate sales.
- Obtain orders from customers and sales representatives; enter work order, credit return, return authorization, pick ticket, and service request; file paperwork accordingly.
- Coordinate purchase and delivery of special products.
- Manage schedules for projects by coordinating with outside sales, jobsites, and assigned customers.
- Maintain stock levels on the sales floor and in the stockroom.
- Research credits, returns, and late payments as needed.
- Check on back orders and resolve any outstanding issues; solve billing problems and compile data for closing.
- Handle special orders and advanced pricing; assist with pricing and special price lists.
- Develop and grow professional relationships with customers.
- Resolve jobsite issues and customer problems.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1-3 years of experience in the building material industry with basic knowledge of product and application required.
- 1-3 years of inside sales experience preferred.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, and cash register.
- Knowledge of building supplies, applications, related equipment, and/or construction industry.
- Good interpersonal and customer relations skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with inventory and inventory control.
- Able to walk throughout yards, plants, and offices.
