A "Mobile Crisis Responder" is a mental health professional who actively travels to various community locations to provide immediate crisis intervention and stabilization services to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis, including assessment, de-escalation techniques, safety planning, and connecting them with appropriate follow-up care and community resources, often working in collaboration with law enforcement and other agencies; essentially acting as a first responder for mental health emergencies in the community.
Key responsibilities of a Mobile Crisis Responder:
· Crisis Assessment:
Conduct thorough evaluations of individuals in crisis to understand the nature of their distress, including potential risks to themselves or others.
· De-escalation Techniques:
Utilize verbal and non-verbal communication strategies to de-escalate tense situations and reduce agitation in individuals experiencing a crisis.
· Safety Planning:
Collaborate with individuals in crisis to develop personalized safety plans to manage triggers and prevent future crises.
· Resource Navigation:
Identify and connect individuals with appropriate community resources such as mental health treatment providers, shelters, support groups, or substance abuse programs.
· Collaboration with Agencies:
Work closely with law enforcement, emergency medical services, social service agencies, and other relevant organizations to coordinate care and ensure appropriate responses to crises.
· Documentation:
Accurately document all crisis interventions, assessments, safety plans, referrals, and follow-up contacts.
· On-Call Availability:
May be required to be available on-call outside of regular work hours to respond to urgent crisis situations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
· Clinical Skills:
Strong understanding of crisis intervention techniques, mental health diagnoses, and evidence-based practices for crisis stabilization.
· Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication abilities to build rapport with individuals in crisis, actively listen, and effectively de-escalate situations.

Education and Licensure:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field
