Job Title: Associate Director, Scientific Communications
Location: Hybrid – San Rafael, CA
Job Summary:
The Associate Director (AD) of Scientific Communications plays a key role in developing and executing scientific communication strategies. This role oversees publication planning, messaging, and content creation to support marketed and clinical products in skeletal conditions. The AD collaborates cross-functionally to ensure high-quality scientific outputs and alignment with regulatory and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Publication Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and execute scientific communication plans, focusing on the U.S. market.
- Contribute to scientific messaging and maintain the Scientific Communication Platform.
- Conduct literature and gap analyses to support publication strategies.
- Organize and implement expert meetings to guide publication strategy.
- Support scientific congress activities, including symposium content development.
- Facilitate the development of treatment and management guidelines.
Publication Content Creation:
- Research, draft, and edit scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations.
- Manage external writers and graphic designers as needed.
- Ensure all scientific communications adhere to ICMJE and GPP 2022 guidelines.
- Maintain and reconcile activities within the publication database.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding scientific communications.
- Provide updates on scientific communication planning in cross-functional meetings.
- Assist in managing the Scientific Communications budget.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Advanced degree (MS or higher) in life or health sciences.
- 7 years of experience in scientific communications, publication planning, or medical writing in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific data.
- Experience managing direct reports is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
