About the Role
We are partnering with a leading pharmaceutical company to hire an Automation Engineer – Building Automation Systems to support the design, implementation, and long-term operations of an advanced manufacturing and drug development facility. This cutting-edge site will integrate research and manufacturing in one location, streamlining processes for clinical trial medicines while improving efficiency and sustainability.
Initially, you will focus on automation design and project delivery as part of the Global Process Automation & Control Engineering (GPACE) team. As the site nears completion, your role will transition to ongoing operational support within the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe work environment and identify opportunities to enhance safety for both personnel and equipment.
- Lead and optimize Building Automation System (BAS) projects, including building management systems, qualified BAS, and monitoring systems.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership, ensuring automation solutions align with industry best practices.
- Support automation design and engineering phases, from conceptual development to detailed execution.
- Implement SCADA integration for real-time data collection, alarm management, and user access controls.
- Oversee and manage project execution, working closely with contractors, engineers, and internal teams.
- Work with Facilities Engineering and Architectural/Engineering firms to develop automation solutions that support HVAC, airflow management, and facility operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
- 3 years of experience in automation or process control.
- Hands-on expertise with Building Automation Systems (BAS) platforms such as Rockwell, JCI Metasys, Siemens, or Honeywell.
- Experience with SCADA platforms, IT/OT integration, and networked automation solutions.
- Ability to interpret control wiring diagrams and develop airflow and instrumentation diagrams (AF&ID).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in pharmaceutical or GMP environments.
- Knowledge of ISA S95 principles and IT/Automation integration.
- Experience with Rockwell Automation Platforms, FactoryTalk View SCADA, and ControlLogix PLCs.
- Familiarity with HVAC control systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and virtualized automation platforms.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

- Travel requirements: Up to 10% domestic and international travel, with potential opportunities for short- and long-term assignments.
