Automation Engineer – Drug Substance Manufacturing | Indiana (Hybrid in 2025-26)
A global pharmaceutical leader is investing $4.5 billion in a cutting-edge manufacturing and drug development facility and is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to support the design, implementation, and long-term operation of automation systems. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the successful integration of automation technologies in drug substance manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support automation design and delivery for new manufacturing sites, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
- Provide technical leadership in automation project execution, with a focus on Emerson DeltaV and related automation platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize process automation and integration with key IT systems
- Support project conceptualization, basic, and detailed engineering phases, ensuring efficiency and scalability in automation solutions
- Oversee and direct contingent or contract workers to meet project deliverables
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical, mechanical, electrical, or related field)
- Minimum of six years of automation experience, including expertise with Emerson DeltaV
- Strong knowledge of ISA S95 and S88 principles
- Experience working with validated systems in a pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated environment preferred
- Demonstrated leadership experience in automation project delivery
This position will require flexibility to work from Indianapolis through 2025 and 2026 before transitioning to a long-term location in Lebanon, IN. Some domestic and international travel may be required.
