What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Director, Events position at Meeting Professionals International?
The Senior Director, Events is responsible for driving all enterprise event strategy and financial goals for MPI’s global live event portfolio. This position is responsible for both working in unison with the MPI Academy team as well as sourcing key partnerships and securing resources to execute the portfolio. In addition, the Sr. Director, Events oversees the logistics and content of programs to ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with MPI’s overall strategy and objectives, within budget and complies with established standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Execute and deliver MPI’s event portfolio to realize MPI’s live event strategy, including the successful delivery of the MPI brand, member-value, and partner value, through leadership focused around innovative and effective event design, performance metrics and resources required to effectively deliver on the strategy. (25%)
- Direct all staffing (whether internal or outsourced) and partner resources by determining accountability and decision-making, setting goals and objectives. Additionally, will direct external, strategic partner and third-party relationships for service delivery of many aspects of the event portfolio. (20%)
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of vendors, support host committee, partners, and volunteers. Ensure the visibility and coordination of strategic partner relationships across all MPI business units, when negotiating agreements. Direct multiple service contractors. Create new revenue streams in each destination / event in coordination with the sales & sponsorship team. (20%)
- Execute live events through the project management process and take corrective action to guarantee achievement of all live event objectives including process improvement and procurement best practices. Collaborate with other departments to prioritize projects. Initiate weekly meetings to make sure deadlines are met. (15%)
- Develop cost and revenue models for major events, track budget and demographics on attendees, and prepares management reports with consistent performance report-out to MPI Executive team. Negotiate contracts and pricing to assure that work is completed to specification, including contracts that may be in foreign currencies with international vendors and clients. (10%)
- Oversee site selection and vendor selection process through a Request for Proposals system, involving key organizational stakeholder. (10%)
