What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Development and External Affairs position at Meharry Medical College?
Meharry Medical College, School of Dentistry (SOD) is seeking a Director of External Affairs and Development. Under the supervision of the Dean of SOD, the ideal candidate will be successful at collaborating, communicating, and establishing strong and effective relationships with SOD's internal and external constituencies, which would include the SVP Institutional Advancement, SOD Associate Dean of Finance & Business, Department Chairs, faculty, and community advocates. The Director of External Affairs and Development will drive community engagement and fundraising through relationship building and social media.
Daily Operations
- Working in coordination with the Dean of SOD, SVP Institutional Advancement and faculty members in determining philanthropic priorities and developing fundraising strategies to meet those priorities.
- Engage external and internal constituents / communities and alumni through various social media platforms
- Assist with marketing strategies, professional writing, planning, developing correspondence, strategic communications and presentations, reporting and other community and partner engagements fundraising initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Dean of SOD, Associate Dean of Finance and Business and Faculty Chairs to establish relationships through various communication platforms and potential partnerships for new revenue streams.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
