What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Teacher, C.A.P.E. Program 966893 position at Meharry Medical College?
The Part-time Teacher of the Connecting Adults to Professions and Education (C.A.P.E.) Program will work within the Meharry Center for Health Policy to assist with the educational components of the program such as HiSET/GED and ESL courses. This position will work with the CAPE staff to execute the programmatic goals outlined in Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Grant. This grant funded position reports directly to the Program Director.
Daily Operations
- Teach weekly classes, CAPE Level Up 1 and 2, Monday through Friday.
- Supervise classes to ensure all students are learning in a safe and productive environment.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends for HSE Bootcamps.
- Organize supplies and resources for lectures and presentations.
- Meet with students to provide small group sessions and tutoring.
- Implement lesson plans and educational programs using the required curriculum, supplies, and resources.
- Evaluate and document students’ academic progress.
- Deliver personalized and differentiated instruction to each student using required curriculum.
- Participate in professional development trainings and bi-weekly staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field from an accredited college or university required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) year’s teaching experience.
- ESL Endorsement or TESOL Certification preferred.
- Current TN Practitioner/Professional License required.
- Spanish speaking preferred.
