Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social Services Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing assistance and support to the social service unit.
Responsibilities
- The duties of this position: assist and screen incoming agency clients and perform general clerical duties (files, obtain records, schedule appointments, issue letters) and provide technical assistance to Social Service Workers in completing case work.
- Responsible for data entry in computer system. Assist in determining eligibility for any Family and Children Emergency Services, Emergency Assistance Services Allocations, which could include interviewing applicants, collecting necessary information, and documenting client needs. Receiving and entering CPS reports into SACWIS, taking incoming calls, and making referrals to appropriate services and personnel.
- Arranging and providing transportation and supportive services to clients and administering drug screens as needed.
- Assist the caseworker will additional duties, including clerical, referrals to services and programs
Skills
Office practices and procedures; computer operations, mailing procedures, typing principles, data entry functions, client services program implementation. Typing and oral communication skills are required along with organization, performing computer operations, operating photocopier, and some interviewing skills. Giving and exchanging facts or routine information, counsel others involving simple or routine matters, answer routing questions/inquiries, complete forms and assist with applications, refer customers to the appropriate personnel, use computers, determine the services that a customer needs, use office equipment, assist customers with paperwork, answer telephones and assist customers with forms.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE CHARACTERISTICS: (*Indicates developed after employment) QUALIFICATIONS:
· Completion of undergraduate major core coursework or two years technical training in behavioral science, early childhood development technology, education, or related field.
· Or four courses in behavioral science one of which must be in child development or two years’ experience in behavioral science of which six months must be in child development, one course or six months experience in business mathematics, one course or six months in experience in interviewing, one course or six months experience in typing, keyboarding or word processing.
· Or education, training and/or experience in an amount equal to the Minimum Qualifications stated above.
