We are assisting our client, Meinhardt Group, with the recruitment and selection of a Mechanical Engineer/Inspector. This is an on-site position that will report to their client in Aurora, CO.

The Mechanical Engineer will oversee and support the mechanical systems design, installation, and commissioning on a large-scale industrial construction project. The role involves coordination with design consultants, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure quality, schedule adherence, and compliance with project specifications, codes, and standard
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret mechanical design drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and scope documents.
- Coordinate mechanical system installations including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and process piping.
- Monitor construction activities for compliance with engineering standards, codes (e.g., ASME, NFPA, IPC, ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.9 and Section VII Div 1), and project requirements.
- Assist with procurement activities including material submittals, RFIs, and technical evaluations.
- Perform field inspections and resolve design or installation issues in collaboration with field teams and subcontractors.
- Verify materials and equipment installed match approved submittals.
- Maintain detailed, daily inspection reports with photographs and notations.
- Track non-conformance items (NCRs) and follow up on corrective actions.
- Assist with turnover documentation: punch lists, test results, and close-out packages.
- Support commissioning and functional testing of mechanical systems.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of design changes, redlines, and as-built drawings.
- Ensure integration of mechanical systems with electrical and structural disciplines.
- Support project scheduling and cost control related to mechanical works.
- Contribute to risk assessments, constructability reviews, and value engineering exercises.
- Attending meetings as needed to support design and construction for the client.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical engineering on large industrial or commercial construction projects.
- PE license preferred or in progress.
- Familiarity with mechanical system codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA, ASME, NFPA).
- Proficiency with CAD, Revit, Navisworks, and MS Office.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in a design-build or EPC environment preferred.
- Previous experience as Owner’s Rep or Owner’s Engineer
Salary : $92,000 - $125,000
