How you will make an impact:
Meissner's Applications Engineering team is scaling globally to address our clients technical requirements in our rapidly expanding markets. As part of a highly functioning team, Applications Engineers are charged with adapting Meissner's technology platforms to end-users' processes, implementing these as a critical part of medicine manufacture. This team supports clients throughout the world by overseeing the design of novel, efficient and cost-effective process solutions while also confirming a robust supply chain, establishing market value, ensuring a seamless transition to manufacturing, and providing assistance and technical support necessary to ensure the successful implementation thereof.
- Supports projects (both multi-departmental and university or internship-related) to ensure that initiatives and specifications are satisfied, timelines are adhered to, associated cost targets are achieved, etc.
- Manages Applications Engineering Projects in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to develop single-use systems designs based on user and process requirements:
- Creates product specifications that meet customer design requirements while allowing for lean production and cost-effective solutions.
- Analyzes product specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced via existing component portfolio (Meissner Design Space), processing facilities, and techniques.
- Evaluates market technologies and hardware to recommend product equivalents (e.g. filters, Support Products).
- Prepares design layouts, assembly drawings, work orders, bill of materials (BOM), and other documents necessary for completion of projects.
- Generates pricing utilizing sophisticated models in concert with Global Finance and Accounting.
- Leads client discussions and presents Meissner technical capabilities.
- Manages library of single-use componentry for use in single-use assemblies:
- Evaluates single-use components to ensure fitness for purpose, e.g., sensor functionality, engagement testing.
- Works with Quality, Planning, and Procurement to ensure a consistent supply of single-use components.
- Supports single-use systems production:
- Ensures designs are manufactured accurately to developed specifications.
- Facilitates new biocontainer design implementation.
- Interfaces with and offers continuous improvement support for the MES/ERP systems.
- Provides product support for single-use systems:
- Creates support documentation including process flow and recommended usage diagrams.
- Confers with customers and sales staff to discuss project status, provide technical support, and otherwise facilitate implementation of product portfolios.
This is an on-site role based out of our MAARC Facility in San Luis Obispo.
The skills and experience youll need:
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or equivalent technical discipline from a four-year college or university.
- Travel to client facilities and Meissner manufacturing sites globally may account for 15-20% of the time or more.
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Excellent attention to detail is necessary as single-use assemblies are utilized in the production of life-saving drugs.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with other departments at Meissner and parties external to the organization.

US BASE PAY SCALE $73,200 - $83,900
The base pay scale for this role is what Meissner reasonably expects to pay for the position although actual pay may vary from this scale depending on an applicant's experience.
