What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registrar (Melvin H. King) [Therapeutic Day School] (SY25-26) position at Mel King South End Academy?
Melvin H. King South End Academy (MHKSEA) is a K-12 therapeutic day school dedicated to supporting students with emotional, behavioral, and learning needs. The school offers three distinct programs:
- Melvin H. King Elementary: Serving students in grades K-6 at the South End Academy site, 90 Warren Ave., with school hours from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Melvin H. King Middle & High School: Serving students in grades 7-12 at the South End Academy site, 90 Warren Ave., with school hours from 7:20 a.m. to 1:40 p.m.
- Melvin H. King Prep: Serving students in grades 9-12 at 97 Peterborough St., with school hours from 7:20 a.m. to 1:40 p.m.
The Melvin H. King South End Academy will receive an additional stipend of four hours for professional development per week as determined by School Leadership.
The Registrar at MHKSEA is responsible for registering, discharging, and scheduling students and maintaining all student records. He/she will ensure that all students attending the school are appropriately enrolled and assigned and that complete and accurate records of assignment, achievement, and attendance exist for all students.
Responsibilities
- Oversees daily attendance of students.
- Assists in implementing the new computerized attendance system from teacher scanner sheets.
- Responsible for intake procedures for all students.
- Responsible for the development of the master schedule and all programming.
- Maintains all student records and related communication.
- Develops computer procedures and reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Headmaster
Qualifications Required
- Education: Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience in scheduling staff and students.
- MA DESE Secondary Teacher License at the appropriate grade level.
- Excellent computer skills and ability to develop computer reports.
- Ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Have knowledge of Nordex and other scheduling software.
- Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
Qualification-Preferred
- Masters Degree.
- Experience in an urban school setting.
