Melba's Poboys in New Orleans, LA is looking for team members to join our 43 person strong team. We are located on 1525 Elysian Fields Avenue. If you are passionate about food and ready to work hard, while keeping a smile on your face, we would love to have you join our team. We need people who don't mind working in a fast-paced environment, with heavy demands, especially during meal rushes. Successful candidates will work the front counter, sandwich station, steam table, dishwasher, and other positions, as needed. Our 24-hour restaurant has three 8 hour shifts, with the 1st shift starting at 6 a.m. If you enjoy a team-oriented environment and a positive work atmosphere, we want to talk with you. - Count down till at the beginning and end of each shift and deposit money in the safe
- Greet customers, answer the phone, answer any questions, concerns and complaints the customer might have, and inform customer of any specials or promotions running currently
- Take orders with accuracy into a point-of-sale system, repeat orders to customer to ensure they are correct, accept payment using a credit card reader or cash register and accurately supply change, when needed
- Maintain a fast speed of service, especially during rush time, when serving food and beverages with a consistently positive and helpful attitude
- Direct complaints and concerns to Manager
- Ensure restrooms are clean and stocked
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized dining room and service area before, during and after each shift
- Maintain a neat and tidy appearance
- Arrive on time for all shifts, complete all work at end of shift and stay until completion
- Follow all restaurant safety and security procedures
- Comply with all health and food safety regulations, and sanitary requirements, at all times
- Must be at least 21 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Previous experience in the restaurant industry or cashier experience preferred
- Ability to stand for long hours at a time and work in a fast-paced environment
- Capable of lifting 25 lbs or more
- Able to learn computerized ordering system
- Basic math skills, ability to make change
- Trustworthy and reliable
- Friendly demeanor, positive attitude and commitment to excellent customer service
- Excellent time management skills
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
