Role Description/CriteriaAbout You:The successful applicant will be a dynamic and passionate and committed to working with children, providing a rich and rewarding educational experience and who has a demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and to the safety and wellbeing of children.The primary objective of the Education Support role is to work collaboratively with teaching staff by supporting them to enhance the learning outcomes of students and have a strong desire to work collaboratively with children with complex needs and will embrace a collegial, team-based approach to supporting teaching and learning at St Anthony’s.Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Certificate IV in Education Support or Special Needs and previous primary school experience in this role
  • understanding of NCCD funding model an advantage
  • current 'Police and Working With Children Check'

  • capacity to work effectively as a member of staff and acquire new skills
  • capacity to respond pastorally to human and interpersonal issues
  • ability to maintain an appropriate level of confidentialityDuties include:
  • work in partnership with the teacher to support student learning and implement associated goals as identified in the Personalised Learning Plan. This may include: General support to a group of students while the teacher is engaged in focused teaching; Provision of Personalised support eg. Mobility or communication support, where required; Assisting students to complete tasks designed by the teacher; Supervision of core program, work completion; Preparation of support materials.(Refer to Appendix - CECV Effective Practice Framework For Learning Support Officers Table One - Roles and Responsibilities of the LSO PG.15)
  • work to promote self-esteem and assist with student social interactions by teaching them social skills and discussing with them their social behaviours as required
  • make appropriate adjustments via the LSO adjustments form to learning materials or the environment to meet the needs of the student and maximise learning
  • collect data for analysis by the teacher and/or the Student Support Group
  • maintain effective communication with teacher, parents and relevant Leadership Personnel on student performance and strategies to be implemented as identified in the PLP
  • provide relevant and timely feedback to the student during learning sessions
  • support collegiate learning by sharing learnings with colleagues during formal and informal meetings
  • assist with support and supervision on Excursions, camps and other extra curricular activities including sporting events when required
  • respond to all students in the classroom in a warm and encouraging manner and build collaborative relationships. All staff in a Catholic school have an indispensable role to play.
