A local not-for-profit senior living facility has an immediate opening for a seasoned, multi-talented Controller. Our ideal candidate will be an energetic, hands-on manager with a proven track record and experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, budgeting, and maintaining databases.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Reports to and works directly with the Executive Director to oversee all fiscal policies for the organization.
- Organizes the Accounting Department to ensure proper accounting for all pertinent records.
- Schedules and maintains daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual routines as required.
- Hires, trains, and manages Accounting Department staff.
- Serves as a resource for other department Directors, superiors, peers, and employees.
- Coordinates year-end activities including audits, audit schedules, reports, and tax and informational returns.
- Monthly AR reviews plus daily/weekly questions and billing decisions.
- Monitors and reports regularly on all past-due accounts.
- Ensures the accurate and timely payment of invoices.
- Prepares journal entries, bank reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial statements.
- Performs month-end closing and distributes monthly budget reports to management company and department heads.
- Reconciles subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger. Reconciles all other balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Reviews fixed asset and depreciation schedules and maintains other records.
- Ensures that all miscellaneous monies are properly deposited and recorded accurately and timely in accordance with best accounting practices.
- Collaborates with all Departments to develop and maintain an ongoing capital improvement schedule.
- Assists in preparing and monitoring the annual budget.
- Prepares and coordinates annual schedules, and other information, including overseeing the annual audit process.
- Assist in preparing quarterly and annual bondholder and state compliance and reporting.
- Responsible for credit and collections functions.
- Oversees all insurance programs.
- Oversees and maintains internal databases.
- Experience with migrating accounting software, a plus.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting with thorough knowledge of general accounting functions.
- Minimum of five years hands-on experience with G/L, A/P, A/R, Payroll, and financial statement preparation.
- Minimum of five years of documented skills in leadership, supervision, and communication.
- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines, good planning skills are necessary.
- Experience in the senior living industry is highly desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Hours: 9AM - 2PM
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 4 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
