About The Role:

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Junior Product Developer to join our melin Partnership Program (MPP) team that is responsible for the creation of melin’s custom designs in collaboration with some of the world’s most premium partners.

 

This role will work closely with the MPP development, design, and production teams to own key aspects of the development process for these collaborative projects. The ideal candidate is flexible, hardworking, and extremely detail oriented, and will use these traits to bring new projects to life.

 


  • The MPP Jr. Product Developer is responsible for managing and owning the development, execution, and on time delivery for the custom trims and components for each assigned MPP project.
  • Manage the submission, development, approval, and delivery of each assigned MPP project by serving as the liaison between the design team and overseas development team.
  • Consistently manage project timelines with our overseas development team and supply chain in an organized manner.
  • Manage development tracking tools for each project, keeping them up to date and ensuring accuracy.
  • Ensure that all product is developed within established target costing to achieve company margin goals.
  • Manage materials and trims in company materials database.
  • Own the communication and hand-off of assigned final project trims to the production team.
  • Operate with a complete understanding of the development process.

 

Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Serve as a technical resource for the design team and overseas development team.
  • Own tech pack accuracy, submission, tracking, and development updates/troubleshooting for assigned projects.
  • Catalog all project tech packs on internal server.
  • Contribute ideas for product design, construction, materials, and components to enhance functionality, aesthetics, duty, compliance, and product margin.
  • Proactively follow and report on the execution of all product details.
  • Examine prototypes to assure all specifications are correct.
  • Confirm final trims arrive on time and ensure they meet expected quality and accuracy standards.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with overseas development team.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Qualifications, Education, Experience Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or applicable technical degree required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a product development role.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, work ethic, and teamwork. 
  • Knowledge of molds, patchwork and trims is a plus.
  • Basic understanding and experience in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities. 
  • Detail oriented, self motivated with strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Current industry standard technical knowledge of development and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrate a passion for premium product and brand building.
  • Team player attitude required.
  • Experience with Asana and WeChat is a plus.

 

Location & Office Structure: This is an in-office hybrid position, mandatory 4 days per week in office in San Clemente, with the option to work from home 1 day per week. Subject to change without notice as per company guidelines.

 

Compensation: The hourly range for this position is $24.00 to $31.00 per hour. Hourly rate is based on the experience that you bring to the position.
