Speech Lang Path Assist-N

Therapy:

• Provide direct treatment services under the direction of the supervising SLP
• Consult regularly with supervising SLP to discuss student progress
• Overlap with the supervising SLP to ensure carryover of treatment strategies across sessions
• Work collaboratively to deliver services to students individually or in small groups across school, community, and/or vocational settings
• Create lessons plans to embed the target speech/language goals and objectives
• Take initiative to cover sessions and/or complete make-up sessions for other providers

Documentation:

• Utilize clinical discretion to document student performance toward objectives within Catalyst
• Maintain accurate records of daily sessions
• Complete a billing spreadsheet outlining direct and indirect services by the designated due dates
• Update the master schedule with schedule changes and collaborate with the SLP to ensure service mandates are maintained
• Collect communication samples as requested by the SLP
• Design therapy materials and visual supports
• Assist with AAC device programming
• Program and update Catalyst under the direction of the SLP

Consultation:

• Demonstrate communication strategies to RBTs to promote generalization across a student’s day
• Model AAC use to RBTs and ensure carryover of device use within the classroom
• Implement feeding strategies under the direction of the SLP
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings with the SLP

Student Management:

• Implement behavior plans outlined by the BCBA
• Utilize judgment to manage behaviors within therapy sessions
• Adjust therapy plans to accommodate the student’s changing needs

Work Environment:

• Maintain a safe and motivating therapy environment
• Adjust the physical environment to accommodate changing student needs

Professional Growth:

• Attend appropriate in-service training, workshops, and meetings to keep informed of current practices and trends in speech-language pathology
• Adhere to current guidelines for support personnel as outlined by the CT Department of Education

Other Professional Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate and maintain competency in the Safety Care training program used at Meliora Academy to maintain student and staff safety in behavioral crisis
• Successfully complete a criminal background check
• Obtain and maintain certifications in First Aid and CPR
• Must be able to lift/push/pull/move up to 60 lbs
