CULTURE: 

The CNA is responsible for providing care to patients in the hospital under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, and medical provider (physician, FNP, PT, etc.).

ROLE REQUIREMENTS: 

• Member of the Profession:  The CNA is responsible for their ethical, legal, and personal behavior as an assistant to clinical team members.
• Provider:  The CNA, using identified standards of practice under direct supervision of the registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, physician, FNP, PT, etc., helps the patient/family/consumer to identify and to meet basic needs.
• Advocate: The CNA collaborates with other clinical team members in providing a climate in which patients/families/consumers may act in their own interest.
• Manager: The CNA works with other care providers to achieve desired outcomes through the effective use of time, resources, equipment, and supplies.
• Educator:  The CNA, using the established plan of care, reinforces patient/family/consumer education in the course of care.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: 

    MINIMUM: 

Required Skills

• Manual dexterity and physical agility to operate all equipment and perform all procedures.
• Utilizes safe body mechanics to ensure patient and caregiver safety.

Required Experience

• Graduate of an approved certified nursing assistant program.
• BCLS

Preferred Skills

• Bilingual preferred but not essential

MELISSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL:

Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. It is a model rural hospital with 1 operating room, surgical procedure room, 4 bay emergency room, and radiology including 64-slice CT scanner and mammography, MRI, ECHO, and Nuclear Medicine, along with other ancillary services. The hospital is co-located with a family practice clinic and retail pharmacy services. Other services include chemotherapy, general & orthopedic surgery, podiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, progressive rehab services, and wound care. MMH operates a full-time EMS service and maintains a 24/7 AirLife Helicopter base.
