CULTURE:
This position provides and leads medical care, including medical care teams, to manage assigned patient population, maintains timely and appropriate documentation of such care, and actively participates in medical staff duties. Participates in utilization management and care management processes to ensure high-quality, cost-effective delivery of services. Meets production standards. Partners with administration and staff to support strategic and operational plans. Works collaboratively toward needed improvements. Shares night, weekend, and/or holiday call duties as stated in the Employment Agreement.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Attends to patient needs through effective diagnosis, treatment, and documentation within area of assigned specialty. In an acute setting, this position provides medical care to the hospital patient population. This may include attending to patient needs through effective diagnosis, treatment and documentation. Provides guidance to the nursing staff and other members of the care team.
2. Meets quality measures in provision of medical care. Performs related administrative functions in the clinical setting. Meets professional standards governing such services in the appropriate medical specialty. Performs in accordance with the medical staff bylaws, the rules and regulations of the hospital and the medical staff, and the policies and procedures of clinic or practice.
3. Creates and maintains timely, appropriate and confidential documentation and coding of patient care to ensure compliance with medical reporting standards and billing practices so as to meet applicable federal and state requirements and the organization's code of conduct.
4. If required by the Employment Agreement, actively participates in medical staff duties, attends hospital staff meetings, participates in peer reviews and evaluations, and supports and ensures compliance with federal and state rules, regulations and accrediting body requirements. Meets CME (Continuing Medical Education) requirements for state licensure.
5. Meets production standards for clinics or practice while maintaining standards of care. Leads care team huddles to maximize efficiency of team in managing patients. Participates in identification, collection, and analysis of clinical, operational, and financial indicators to ensure effective use of resources. Promotes patient safety in all functions.
6. Serves as a committed partner to the organization's administration and staff to support strategic and operational plans. Establishes positive relationships with other physicians, administration, staff and the community and fosters collaborative efforts toward improvement. Serves on relevant health plan, Hospital, and Medical Staff committees to optimize relationships with the medical staff, payers, and peers.
7. Performs other duties as defined in the Employment Agreement.
8. Participates in scholarly activities to aid control/cure diseases. May participate in investigation of new drugs and medications.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all patients with Melissa Memorial Hospital with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors every day.
In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon MMH needs or requirements.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM
Education/Experience:
-
Graduate of an approved school of medicine with licensure in the state where he/she practices.

Board Eligible/Board Certified by appropriate certifying board. Current DEA number.

Must apply for and maintain Medical Staff membership and clinical privileges at appropriate facilities if required by Physician’s employment agreement. Requires commitment to healthcare and concern for people in distress, critical listening skills and ability to communicate clearly, desire to work with all types of people and work as a team member and excellent interpersonal skills. Able to meet desired business outcomes while maintaining quality of care. Must be willing to update skills constantly.
Technical Skills:

Extensive knowledge of medical treatments and protocols ad the necessary skills to apply them in a clinic setting.
Other qualifications/certificate/license:
-
This position requires appropriate licensing before the state, along with appropriate training in BLS and ACLS.

- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.

MELISSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL:
Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. It is a model rural hospital with 1 operating room, surgical procedure room, 4 bay emergency room, and radiology including 64-slice CT scanner and mammography, MRI, ECHO, and Nuclear Medicine, along with other ancillary services. The hospital is co-located with a family practice clinic and retail pharmacy services. Other services include chemotherapy, general & orthopedic surgery, podiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, progressive rehab services, and wound care. MMH operates a full-time EMS service and maintains a 24/7 AirLife Helicopter base.
