CULTURE:

The Wheelchair Van Driver brings a unique perspective to the care of the sick or injured with their experience in interacting with and caring for patients in the prehospital environment. 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

*MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK, DRUG SCREENING, HAVE A VALID LICENSE, AND PASS A LIFT TEST*

• Assist patients and hospital staff in providing patient care in the pre-hospital setting and Emergency Department at Melissa Memorial Hospital. 
• The Wheelchair Van Driver, under the direction of the Medical Director, Emergency Services Director or EMS leadership, is responsible for safely and effectively providing high quality basic transportation to patients to and from healthcare appointments and treatments.
• The Wheelchair Van Driver also delivers prescriptions from the retail pharmacy to patients homes on a daily basis when not actively doing patient transports. 
• The Wheelchair Van Driver will be afforded all allowable acts pursuant to Chapter 2 of Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division Regulation: 6 CCR 1015 – 3 within the scope of the job description.
• While working, the Wheelchair Van Driver shall adhere to an identified scope of practice as well as all regulations, policies, protocols, and standards. 
• He/she will be an integral part of the care team, trauma team, and transport team. 
• Assist with basic life-support care during interfacility transfers to/from Melissa Memorial Hospital and other appropriate facilities as scheduled.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

      MINIMUM:

• High school or GED
• Skills: Analytical, organized, multitasked, excellent communicator, collaborative, relationship building, scheduling experience.

       PREFERRED:

• CDL preferred.

• Associate Degree

• BLS Certification including CPR, first aide, and AED or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment.

MELISSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL:

Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. It is a model rural hospital with 1 operating room, surgical procedure room, 4 bay emergency room, and radiology including 64-slice CT scanner and mammography, MRI, ECHO, and Nuclear Medicine, along with other ancillary services. The hospital is co-located with a family practice clinic and retail pharmacy services. Other services include chemotherapy, general & orthopedic surgery, podiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, progressive rehab services, and wound care. MMH operates a full-time EMS service and maintains a 24/7 AirLife Helicopter base.
