What are the responsibilities and job description for the Set up/Production Operator 3rd shift position at Melling Tool Co?
SUMMARY
This person safely operates, sets up production / finishing cells and maintains various kinds of fabricating machinery that cuts, shapes, welds, brazes, assembles, and bends metal sheets, tubes, and sub-assemblies as well as performing hand assemblies and packaging operations. The person will be certified to perform all tooling changes, minor adjustment, quality checks along with their documentation, and daily preventive maintenance within their cell/center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Must continue to meet and/or exceed the essential duties and responsibilities of a Cell Production Operator 120 Class.
Communicates on a regular basis with production supervisor or shift leader concerning productions requirements, safety issues and/or other similar activities or areas of concern.
Follows directives from the production supervisor or shift leader to meet production requirements.
Operates and maintains equipment within the cell/center for optimum performance.
Communicates with Production Supervisor/Shift Leader concerning all raw material issues.
Communicates with Supervision and TST concerning tooling and equipment issues.
Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment.
Operate/ monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production with minimal unplanned stops.
Set-up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle, control and adjust machines setting as needed (e.g. Speed), Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines.
Use provided tools to check output to spot any machine – related mistakes or flaws
Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
Accurately maintain any logs as required.
Maintain any assigned TPM (Total Predictive Maintenance) or Equipment Maintenance and records of them. General machine PM’s, bit or tool changes of machining centers, six issues that may occur during shift.
Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer etc.)
Adhere to the First Piece/Last Piece tagging procedures. Communicates with Quality Department to resolve issues.
Log production, scrap, labors in the ERP System (PLEX) must ensure in-puts into the system are accurate.
Maintains inspection criteria and documentation per product control plans. , inspect parts with precision and measuring tools Responsible for overall quality in the cell.
Must meet Production and Set Up rates.
Must be able to train/mentor other employees.
Actively participates in employee training programs and other company meetings as required.
Communicate with team members and support team to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials.
Actively participates in SIX S activities. 6S: a system of continual improvement – visual order, organization, cleanliness & standardization.
Adheres to company policies, rules and procedures.
