Melrose International currently has an opening for a Claims Specialist.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receiving customer damage claims, reviewing order details, and gathering necessary documentation to assess the situation.
- Analyzing the nature and extent of product damage, identifying potential causes, and determining if the claim falls under company policy.
- Applying company guidelines to decide if the claim is covered and the appropriate level of compensation.
- Contacting customers to gather information, explain claim status, and address concerns regarding damaged products.
- May need to conduct investigations by contacting relevant parties like shipping carriers or suppliers to gather further details.
· Working with vendors or repair services to arrange product replacements or repairs for approved claims.
- Negotiating settlement amounts with customers based on the assessed damage and policy limitations.
- Assist in Customer Service when needed.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS:
Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle customer complaints and inquiries effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers and internal stakeholders. Analytical skills to evaluate damage claims and determine coverage based on policy guidelines. Detail-oriented with the ability to gather and review relevant information accurately. Problem-solving skills to identify the root cause of damage and determine appropriate resolution. Proficiency with computer systems to manage claims data and generate reports. Knowledge of shipping and logistics practices can be beneficial.
Customer service/claim background, and math skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Attention to detail, the ability to prioritize and maintain documentation with multiple projects, and telephone communication skills are required. Must have the ability make confident decisions and work independently. 2 years of customer service/claim experience is required. High school diploma or equivalent required.
