Job Description
- Under general supervision of the shift supervisor, this position will work collaboratively within the department and with other services to create a system of quality health care.
- Public Safety officers conduct proactive patrols of all hospital buildings and grounds: preventing fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and bodily harm to patients, visitors, and staff.
- Significant training is provided in the areas of crisis intervention, de-escalation, defensive tactics, emergency management, and life safety.
- Public Safety officers serve as immediate and first responders to crisis situations on a daily basis, and document all safety and security incidents in accordance with department policies and procedures.
- Completes an accurate and comprehensive written report for any incident occurring upon hospital property.
- This position could have additional responsibilities assigned at the direction of department leadership.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Bachelor’s degree or working towards a degree in Criminal Justice, preferred
- Ability to read and write at a proficient level.
- Basic Computer Skills required
- A valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle with at least one year of driving experience.
- CPR/AED Certification, CPI NCI Certification, AVADE Certification, and Stop the Bleed and Nasal Naloxone Certification within 90 days after hire
- Military or Law Enforcement Experience, preferred but not required
- Previous customer service experience.
- Organizational and communication skills.
