Meltech is a full-service design build prime/general construction contractor with extensive federal and military construction experience in civil, historical, net zero/renewable energy, modular/containerized, secure and classified federal construction programs & projects worldwide, and national emergency and disaster response. Meltech has experience in a variety of markets with both vertical and horizontal construction including architectural, civil, structural, environmental, mechanical and electrical. In addition to our large pool of skilled, experienced construction managers, accomplished professionals and extremely capable craft labor, Meltech brings an in-house electrical and mechanical division. Meltech also self-perform demo, concrete, rough and finish carpentry, masonry, architectural finishes, electrical, security, specialty and other related work.
Position Description
Our Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) is responsible for performing the daily QC responsibilities of specific Meltech projects to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the established minimum standards. The CQCM role includes direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the work flow process and working with other in-house personnel (e.g.: Project Managers, Superintendents, etc.) and external personnel to produce and document a quality product.
Responsibilities will include:
- Identifies risks at the project site and identifying discrepancies during daily site walks. Documents findings, evaluations and inspections.
- Verify and document that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately and are acceptable for use in the project.
- Maintain the project submittal log and all other project specific quality control reports
- Performs system verifications on completed systems to assure correct installation per contract design specifications.
- Provide written daily QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with each specific project's established standard and constructively confronts non-conformances to produce the desired outcome in a timely manner
- Document weekly QC meetings with the superintendent and provide written minutes as described in project specific contract documents.
- Supports impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce the organization’s environmental risks and financial costs, at the direction of the environmental team and procedures.
- Maintain the project "as-built" drawings on a daily basis.
- Maintains knowledge of Meltech’s values and strategic plan.
- Stop work if necessary to resolve matters that affect safety, quality and/or inhibit the logical progress of work.
- Perform additional assignments per management’s direction.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in engineering or construction management preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry with a commercial and/or industrial general contractor engaged in general building construction;
- Strong working knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical and electrical work;
- Strong knowledge of the sequencing of work and the strategy of creating effective project schedules;
- Good understanding of project change administration and the effect of the quality aspects of the project;
- Solid understanding of means and methods of construction for civil project work and/or the renovation of commercial and industrial facilities
- Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry
