Member First Mortgage is seeking a Home Preservation Specialist I to join our growing Default team in Grand Rapids, MI. Responsibilities:
- Reviews hardship assistance packages for invested Credit Union and General-Sponsored Enterprise (GSE) loans for home preservation assistance. Reviews all necessary documents were received for review of loss mitigation options. Analyzes financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, and the value of the collateral in order to determine and recommend the most feasible and appropriate workout for the borrower. Prepares and sends Modification Request Summary for our Credit Union investor. Uploads Borrowers financials to GSE Loss Mitigation system for approval of loan modification. Discusses Loss Mitigation options with borrowers.
- Prepares trial period plan offer letters for GSE loans for approved borrowers. Processes Non-Hardship Rate/Term Modifications or Principal Curtailment/Re-Amortization Modifications for Non-GSE loans. Updates the system with approved modification and producing modification Agreements. Prepares repayment plans and forbearances. Follows up with borrower for status of executed loan modification documents. Reviews denied and approved Loss Mitigation cases for GSE and Non-GSE Loans.
- Monitors and maintains loss mitigation program pipeline. Notifies foreclosure team if close and bill is needed. Ensures payment reversals and waivers of any applicable fees are completed. Submits all applicable tasks to interdepartmental areas, such as Accounting, Escrow, and claims. Responds and replies back to loss mitigation emails, if applicable. Completes day-to-day administrative duties of answering the phones, answering questions, scanning/upload, etc.
- Ensures all applicable loss mitigation claims are timely filed with the assistance of the claims specialist. Ensures that all FHA partial claims/modifications are submitted timely to the investor. Requests title, follows up on title receipt, and reviews for possible impediments. Validates that all system changes are completed and the loan reflects the terms of the modification as applicable. Updates all applicable investor systems. Submits requests to corporate for pool buyouts for loan modifications. Closes loss mitigation modules when the process is complete.
- Assists the Home Preservation Manager on updating loss mitigation policies, procedures, loss mitigation letters, and workout documents with new announcements, bulletins, or guidelines. Assists in researching new loss mitigation programs. Assists with proposing new loss mitigation programs for Credit Union invested loans (non-hardship rate mod). Works on special home preservation projects.
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office and/or remote office setting.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
