JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for pulmonary care and EKG duties as ordered by physician and keeping pertinent clinical records. Can exercise judgement and initiative to perform high quality patient care and testing utilizing proper professional techniques and safety practices. Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient and family centered care.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs following procedures in a manner appropriate to the patient's age and physical condition :
Sets up, administers, and maintains various oxygen and humidity equipment and keep related records in a timely manner.
Provides resuscitation procedures when necessary.
Administers various pulmonary treatments at proper times in prescribed manner.
Performs EKGs at proper times in prescribed manner.
ABG’s
Cleans and maintains areas and equipment as required.
Responds to pages and / or orders promptly and courteously in the prescribed manner.
Demonstrates job related aspects of patient safety to assure a safe environment, safe and effective use of equipment and technology, and decreased risk of potential adverse patient occurrences.
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on his / her assigned unit. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his / her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's and division's policies and procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
DEPARTMENTAL AND ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains inventory and stocks supplies in department and elsewhere in house as needed.
Makes out, files, maintains, and distributes reports and other paperwork for therapy and testing as required.
Answers telephones in prompt and courteous manner.
Maintains technical competence by attending seminars, in-service education sessions, and reading.
Performs other duties as necessary including shift specific tasks as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Must be enrolled in an NBRC recognized program.
EXPERIENCE
Must have a current BLS card for medical personnel or obtain one within two months of employment from the Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
Experience in CPR is desirable.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES / MOTOR SKILLS
Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities.
Small motor skills required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare (MHC).
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL ABILITIES
Proficiency using modern office, computer and telephone equipment as used by Memorial Healthcare.
Utilize a computer; and maintain required records, including making written notations on the chart.
Hand-eye coordination required to perform oximetry and other tests or therapies
ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES
Ability to assess patient condition during treatments and other therapy; teach patients skill necessary to perform treatments and other therapy; understand pulmonary pathophysiology as related to patient care; and work with minimal supervision.
Ability to adapt and maintain focus in fast paced, quickly changing or stressful situations.
Ability to read and interpret a variety of documents including, but not limited to policies, operating instructions, white papers, regulations, rules and laws.
ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Ability to visually assess patient condition and response to treatment; make decisions quickly under stress; receive and interpret information and respond to verbal requests; and palpate to take patient's pulse.
Able to see for the purpose of reading information received in formats including but not limited to paper, computer, reports, bulletins, updates, manuals.
Able to hear for work-related purposes.

Ability to interact with co-workers, hospital staff, administration, patients, physicians, the public and all internal and external customers in a professional and effective, courteous and tactful manner, at all times, physically, verbally and in all written and electronic communication.
