What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Administrator | Information Technology position at Memorial Health?
Implements and maintains switches, routers, gateways, hubs, wireless controllers and access points, remote access servers, basic firewall configuration, security appliances, network monitoring applications and internet or intranet devices and connections; designs, configures, monitors, and optimizes local networks and the wireless networks for optimal performance, maximum availability, internal redundancy, minimal maintenance, and reasonable cost; responsible for the design, configuration, implementation and maintenance of the local area networks, and the wireless networks for the entire system; designs, configures, maintains and manages network security features for local area networks and wireless networks; adds, deletes and modifies users as required on network devices and applications. Performs preventative and fault isolation maintenance on the local networks and the wireless networks; performs advanced diagnostics and maintenance on desktop devices when additional expertise is required; performs periodic health checks on the local area, and wireless network to ensure proper configuration, efficient use and optimal utilization of the entire system; performs periodic health checks on the firewalls, intrusion prevention, internet proxy and VPN systems to ensure efficient use and optimal utilization; provides annual reports to departmental leadership for all health checks including recommendations for increased performance and/or capacity of the network. Analyzes users’ needs and recommends appropriate network configurations to meet users’ needs and departmental standards; analyzes, recommends and evaluates new networking hardware, software and communications products for network compatibility and applicability; assists in the development of short and long term goals as well as strategic direction in relation to the local area networks and the wireless networks. Complete projects and help desk ticket resolution. Develops, maintains and updates a library of local and wide area network and wireless network documentation; creates, modifies, and maintains all policies and procedures relating to local and wide area networks and the wireless networks.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems Preferred, Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent experience; 2 years of experience as a network administrator in a corporate setting; 2 years of experience in a hospital or other healthcare setting; excellent customer service skills; strong communication skills.
