Job Summary
Collaborates with the physician and healthcare team in the delivery of patient care, utilizing the nursing process. Provides professional nursing care to patients, including conducting nursing assessments, assisting with exams and treatment, patient education, and maintenance of medical records. MHHS hires RNs based on years of experience groupings. (i.e. newly licensed RN [working under the supervision of RN clinical preceptor], less than 1 year, 1-3 years, 3 to 10 and 10 ).

Hiring for the following Critical Care Units (Full-time):

Neuro ICU (nights only)

MH-The Woodlands has the full Neuroscience Serviceline - Neuro ICU, Neuro IMU and Neuro Med/Surg.

4 East is a 12-bed unit that employs state of the art technology. Along with being a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Thrombectomy Capable Facility, our unit provides Epilepsy Monitoring, 24/7 support from full time Hospitalists and Intensivists. 24/7 endovascular coverage and 24/7 Life Flight transportation support.

When it comes to Stroke care, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands has extensive resources, strong capabilities and thorough staff training. The requirements for a Comprehensive Stroke Certification are rigorous and extensive. We can serve our community by providing a high level of care with 24/7 access to neurosurgery.

Cardiovascular IMU (nights only)

This CV IMU has 24 beds with a 1:3 Nurse to patient ratio and is part of new South Tower Expansion opening April 2022!
  • 1 year of previous IMU RN experience or 2 years of previous Med/Surg RN experience
  • RNs will care for CV IMU (TAVRS & carotid endarterectomy) and CV Med-Surg patients (post CV surgery, post Cath procedure, etc.)
  • Those hired before April 2022 will train and work on current IMU (non CV) unit at the Woodlands campus
  • BLS required, ACLS w/in 90 days
  • BSN preferred because of Magnet status but will consider ADN enrolled in a BSN program or 1 to 2 pre-reqs away from being accepted into a BSN program

SICU/Trauma (day & night)

This SICU has 12 beds with a 1:2 Nurse to patient ratio.
  • ICU nursing experience required
  • BSN strongly preferred because of Magnet status. Will consider ADN currently enrolled in a BSN program or 1 to 2 pre-reqs away from being accepted into a BSN program
  • BLS required; ACLS w/in 90 days

Cardiovascular ICU (nights only)

This CVICU has 10 beds and a 1:2 nurse to patient ratio.

The CVICU team at The Woodlands Medical Center is searching for an experienced Cardiovascular nurse to join their fast-paced, high acuity unit.

Prior working knowledge caring for patients post-CABG, vascular procedures, and CV device management highly desired. ICU experience required.

MICU (no openings at this time)

This MICU has 12 beds with a 1:2 nurse to patient ratio.
  • BSN strongly preferred because of Magnet status. Will consider ADN currently enrolled in a BSN program or 1 to 2 pre-reqs away from being accepted into a BSN program
  • BLS required; ACLS w/in 90 days
  • Strongly prefers at least 2 years of IMU experience; May consider ICU Med/Surg

IMU (no openings at this time)

This IMU has 36 beds with a 1:3 nurse to patient ratio
  • BSN strongly preferred because of Magnet status. Will consider ADN currently enrolled in a BSN program or 1 to 2 pre-reqs away from being accepted into a BSN program
  • BLS required; ACLS w/in 6 months
  • Strongly prefers at least 1 year of IMU experience; May consider

2-3 years of Med/Surg for internal candidates

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing; Bachelors of Nursing preferred

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing
  • Certified in Basic Life Support
  • Additional certifications may be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • RN I
  • RN II = 1-3 years
  • RN III = 3-10 years
  • RN IV = 10 years

Principal Accountabilities
  • Delivers safe and appropriate care to patients, according to the nursing skills inventory and the age and needs of the patient/population served.
  • Coordinates the planning for the delivery of nursing care with an interdisciplinary team and administers appropriate clinical decisions in the delivery of patient care.
  • Collaborates with, directs, and may delegate to the healthcare team in the attainment of positive outcomes based on data, research, evidence, and professional standards of care.
  • Coordinates treatment plans; develops/implements discharge and/or transfer plans.
  • Participates in a systemic, interdisciplinary, and ongoing evaluation of programs, process improvement and desired client-centered outcomes.
  • Considers the diverse needs of each patient through the entire continuum of care, providing and ensuring the highest level of service according to established service standards, optimizing the patient experience.
  • Adheres to all regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing standards.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; may serve as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
