Job Summary
The Clinical Engineering Technician II is responsible for the corrective and preventive maintenance of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. The Clinical Engineering Technician II must be able to work independently with limited supervision and/or guidance. The Clinical Engineering Technician II will answer incoming calls to the department and log all support calls for tracking purposes. The Clinical Engineering Technician II must possess the ability to learn on his/her own and to troubleshoot tasks using skills and logic and not be dependent upon pre-written procedures. The Clinical Engineering Technician II must develop work habits and proper communication skills that reflect the Mission and Philosophy of Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center. Reflects the mission, philosophy, core values, and customer service plan of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in action and attitude. All activities are directed at all departments serving all age groups.
Qualifications
Education:
Associates degree in Biomedical Technology, Electronics Technology, or equivalent military training.
Training:
No previous training required. On the job training with Clinical Engineering will be provided. The individual must adapt quickly and apply learned principles and techniques to situations.
Experience:
Four (4) years related healthcare experience as a Biomedical/Clinical Engineering Technician required.
Performance Requirements
- Possesses exceptional customer service skills. Must project a positive and helpful tone with excellent listening skills.
- Provides extensive logging of all incoming support calls. Maintains corrective and preventive maintenance documentation for all clinical equipment.
- Displays excellent research skills. Must be able to evaluate problems reported by customer, research using all tools available to provide customer with appropriate solution. Must be able to think/troubleshoot without documented solutions.
- Performs repairs on diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
- Performs assigned preventive maintenance and other scheduled services.
- Performs clinical equipment special requests.
- Installs and inspects diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
- Maintains clinical equipment inventory to include tagging, recording, reporting of equipment additions/deletions, and documenting service events.
- Escalates any unresolved problems to the Technology Manager for resolution.
Secondary Duties:
- Assists in the repair of the facility's communication systems.
- As needed, uses MSWord or Excel to compose memos, letters and reports.
- As required, participates in on-call rotation to assist users with emergency situations.
- Periodically attends classes, seminars or on-site training to maintain or enhance currently needed skills.
- As required, works weekends for user support or project implementation.
