What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dietitian - Clinical Dietitian - Days - MFT position at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport?
- Responsible for assessing patients nutritional needs, formulates a plan of care, and communicates a proposed plan to appropriate caregivers
- Evaluates and assesses nutrition status of patients, and screens patients for nutritional risk in accordance with established department protocols and Standards of Care
- Calculates nutritional requirements (calorie, protein, carbohydrate, lipids, vitamins, electrolytes, and fluid) and necessary diet restrictions
- Plans and initiates medical nutrition therapy to patients including enteral and parenteral nutrition, if indicated by patient requirements and clinical protocol
- Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of care plan and adjusts as needed
- Communicates proposed care plan to caregivers
- Maintains appropriate statistics in line with the department policy
- Provides nutritional counseling to patients/families/caregivers
- Instructs patients in diet principles and restrictions and documents pertinent information
- Educates and counsels patients and families on nutritional issues, either individually or in groups
- Participates as a member of the health care team
- Communicates patient/family nutritional needs and recommended care plans to the appropriate health care provider
- Records pertinent documentation to the patient's plan of care in accordance with policy and procedures
- Participates in discharge planning and ongoing care of patients
- Assists in Care Coordination activities
Education: Bachelor's degree or higher with an existing MS RD License, obtained prior to January of 2024
Education: Master's degree required to be eligible to sit for exam and obtain a license as of January 2024. Registry eligible and successful completion of exam for license within six (6) months of hire.
