Qualifications
- Under the direction of the HIM Department Director, ensure HIM staff consistently meets operational quality and performance standards across the system.
- Collaborate with HIM operations management and supervision, medical staff, and departments to improve billing efficiency and maintain compliance with national standards.
- Monitors all HIM functions, including document management, chart analysis, and information released under the Director of HIM’s guidance.
- Ensure HIM staff meets daily productivity goals and turnaround times based on department policies.
- Expert knowledge of medical records processes and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Maintain accurate and legal patient health records, including coding diagnoses and treatments.
- Ensure medical records comply with accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Incorporate the organization's mission and guiding principles into daily work.
- Oversee the quality of HIM staff work and adjust workloads as needed.
- Work with hospital staff to resolve incomplete charts and ensure the accuracy and completeness of medical records.
- Protect patient privacy and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in performance initiatives to support hospital success.
- Monitor HIM workloads and address system issues.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on HIM processes and workflows.
- Assist in improving and standardizing HIM workflows.
- Ensure medical records are completed timely and retain their integrity.
- Help HIM management and supervision coordinate daily HIM functions and workflows.
- Track and report staff performance and productivity.
- Report any document management errors to HIM management and supervision.
- Assist HIM leadership with coordinating key HIM functions.
- Work with the ROI team to ensure records are released per HIPAA standards.
- Manage work to meet deadlines and maximize productivity.
- Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude in team interactions.
- Complete additional duties and projects as assigned.
Education: High School or GED
