What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Laboratory Technician - Laboratory - Evenings - FT position at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport?
Performs technical testing in a laboratory area (chemistry, special the urinalysis, serology, microbiology, blood bank, hematology/coagulation, histology,) to aid ph) and clinical care team members in the diagnosis/treatment of the patient.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Less than ten (10) years work experience - must have an Associate Degree from NAACLS accredited MLT program, or have completed equivalent military training as an MLT. Ten (10) years or more laboratory experience and required certification completion of alternate formal Medical Laboratory program is acceptable.
Licensure: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathology MLT(ASCP), or as a Clinical Laboratory Technician by The National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel - CLT(NCA), or equivalent certification as an MLT. If a new graduate, certification is required within three months.
Experience: No experience required.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Must know the theory and practice of medical laboratory technology. Must be able to troubleshoot, operate, and maintain automated equipment and to perform manual procedures. Some computer skills are needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Same as above.
Licensure: Same as above.
Experience: One year of experience as an MLT/CLT in a clinical laboratory setting.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Advanced training on automated equipment; advanced computer skills.
